0326District complex Uster
The project for the Uster district complex further develops the urban design principles of the master plan and strengthens the public character through transparency, accessibility, and clear address orientation. Key elements include a permeable passage with visual connections to the courtyard and entrance hall, a corner café, and the orientation of public functions toward the courthouse square as the central address. Respectful treatment of the protected 1915 building is a priority: interventions are minimized, historical structures preserved, and accessibility ensured through careful additions. The courtyard remains unbuilt, is staged as a meeting place, and connects old and new buildings via ring-shaped circulation. The different sections house public uses such as the career information center, child and youth services, district office, district council, police, prosecutor’s office, and district court. Clear circulation routes, separate access for the public, staff, and detainees, as well as multifunctional areas, ensure functional processes, security, and a high quality of stay for all users.
