With the awareness that our buildings have an impact on the environment and society, we strive to find thoughtful, needs-oriented and sustainable solutions and question existing conventions.
Close cooperation with specialist planners, specialists and companies enables the development of holistically thought-out concepts in line with ecological and economic requirements. The office sees itself as a learning organization that constantly strives for improvement and faces up to the challenges of the changing construction industry. The search for the optimum is not just a goal, but a process that is characterized by intensive examination of the respective task and the constant questioning of existing solutions.
A building that is respected and valued by society will be cared for, used for many years and hopefully reach a very old age. Our projects include building in existing contexts, sustainability and urban planning with a focus on public, educational and cultural buildings. We deal with the issues of climate change, scarcity of resources and densification across all contexts. We cover all architectural services, from process support to urban planning studies and implementation.
Berrel Kräutler Architekten specializes in large and complex public buildings. Among the best-known projects realized are the Administration Building OASI Geneva, the WHO headquarters in Geneva and the Swiss embassy in Singapore. Currently in the planning and construction phases are the Altstetten indoor swimming pool in Zurich, the Polyfeld vocational training center and campus in Muttenz and the UniHub Académique in Neuchâtel.
Our employees are our capital. We actively promote further training and the exchange of knowledge within the team. Each individual contributes individual skills and experience - we learn from and with each other.
Founded in 2003 by Maurice Berrel and Raphael Kräutler, the architecture firm now employs around 40 people. Since 2024, Maurice Berrel, together with the members of the Executive Board Johannes Maier, Beatriz Morales de Setién, Jaime Rodriguez, Patrick Sutter and Tilmann Weissinger, has been managing the fortunes of the growing company.
