The FIVE HOUSES project is located south of Altstätten in the Rhine Valley, embedded in an agricultural landscape. The aim is to create a homely environment despite the proximity to a prison and shooting range. Five staggered buildings blend into the natural surroundings, forming defined outdoor spaces and connected by an inner "street" that includes communal areas such as dining halls, multipurpose rooms, and classrooms. A spacious garden with an avenue, playground, pavilions, and seating areas complements the complex. Four houses are designated for living, and one for administration. The project is conceived as a home for people, not merely as an asylum facility.
