0255Community Building Arlesheim

The area around Stollenrainstrasse is characterized by heterogeneous buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with streets cutting diagonally to form triangular, green front gardens. The design takes up this pattern: the residential building runs parallel to Hirslandweg, while the new community hall is centrally located within the Pfeffingerhof. Two plazas are created, connected by passages and a public passage through the residential building that increases permeability. The ground floor of the residential building houses medical and therapeutic practices and a café under the community hall’s canopy. The plazas differ in character: the upper plaza opens to the neighborhood, while the inner courtyard is introverted and quiet. The community hall offers flexible use with a stage and foyer, and well-connected infrastructure. Apartments are bright, with loggias and flexible layouts suitable for singles and couples.
