The design for the Museum of the 20th Century in Berlin complements the Kulturforum as a connecting element between existing buildings such as the National Gallery, St. Matthew’s Church, and the Philharmonie. Positioned at the apex of Potsdamer Street, the slender museum tower creates a central esplanade that enables sightlines and encounters. Surrounding promenades with views into the museum and plantings of flowering meadows shape the open space. The building is accessible from all sides, with its main entrance facing Scharoun Square and a transparent ground floor housing public functions. Exhibition spaces are mostly underground, arranged in "art chambers" and complemented by courtyards. A vertically organized tower with a restaurant and panoramic views continues the tour, while the upper floors house depots, administration, and restoration facilities.
