0301Cantonal Police Oensingen

Various police bases, the rescue service of Solothurn Mitte, and the bankruptcy office for the entire canton are brought together on a well-situated site between the railway station and the motorway. This conglomerate requires a sophisticated spatial system with the most direct possible access routes. The proposed volume is therefore set back far enough from all plot boundaries to allow a sufficiently wide strip for vehicular access around the entire building. This makes it possible to arrange the ground-floor parking halls for all emergency vehicles used in urgent operations.
Through a skilful use of the existing differences in terrain, varying room heights are created, ideally accommodating the different requirements. Above and below, the floors are stacked with uniform room heights, forming a compact volume. The spaces of the three different uses are interwoven as coherent units. At their interfaces, areas are created for multiple forms of use. Despite the separation required for security reasons, the result is a high degree of efficiency with diverse opportunities for synergies.
