0299Settlement Hirschwiese

Meandering building volumes wind through the park-like greenery and anchor themselves in the surroundings with receptor-like protrusions. The thickened areas structure the volume and mark the entrances to the stairwells. Two-storey passages connect the different parts of the site.
The “inner boulevard” is not only the backbone of the circulation routes, but also the access axis to the public and communal uses. The ground floors contain the settlement-related, communally used apartments.
The compact buildings stand largely free of one another, without significant self-shading. This minimises electricity consumption for artificial lighting and optimises solar gains for passive heating.
